DETAILED TOUR ITINERARY

DAY-01: Arrive at Paro | Paro-Thimphu Sightseeing | Overnight in Thimphu

Distance : 54 Km, estimated driving time : 1 hr

Arrive at Paro. Upon your arrival in Paro, and after completing immigration formalities, you will be warmly greeted by our representative, who will be your tour guide throughout your journey.
Your adventure begins with a scenic drive to Thimphu, passing through Chunzom, where two beautiful rivers converge—Pachu from the Paro Valley and Wangchu from the Thimphu Valley. Along the way, you'll have the chance to walk across a suspension bridge and marvel at the 15th-century iron chain bridge hanging over the Pachu. You’ll also take a short 10-minute walk to visit Tachog Lhakhang, a charming 15th-century temple nestled at the base of a mountain along the Paro-Thimphu highway.
As you continue past Chunzom, you’ll follow the tranquil Wangchu River all the way to the heart of Thimphu.
Upon arriving in Thimphu, you’ll check into your hotel and have some time to relax after your early morning flight. After lunch, you'll embark on visits to some of the city’s must-see sites:

Buddha Doerdenma
A 51 meter bronze Shakyamuni Buddha statue gilded in gold, overseeing the valley of Thimphu. Enjoy the panoramic view of the Thimphu valley from the site of the gigantic Lord Buddha. The site was completed in sept. 2015. We have alternative hike around the statue with beautiful view of the valley, you could prefer to hike one of the trails. These trails are popular for mountain biking/cycling.
Simply Bhutan Meuseum
The Museum is a living studio showcasing the typical life-style and practices of Bhutanese culture and tradition. You will also witness some folk dances by the team at the museum and you can disguise yourself with our national attire and try out archery (national sport).
Tashichho Dzong
The fortress was built by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal in 1641. It was enlarged by desi Tenzin Rabgay in 1694 and further renovated several times over the years. The entire Dzong was rebuilt in 1962 under the royal command of the third king, his majesty Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. It houses the dragon throne room of the king of Bhutan,the office of the Je-khenpo (chief abbot), and other government agencies. It is also used as summer residence of the monk body.
Leisure in Town
A visit to the Craft Bazaar offers you a wonderful opportunity to experience Bhutanese culture in one place while browsing and purchasing authentic, locally made arts and crafts. With 80 vibrant stalls, the Bazaar showcases the full spectrum of Bhutan’s traditional craftsmanship, where artisans from across the country proudly display their unique creations. It’s the perfect spot to take home a piece of Bhutan's rich cultural heritage. You'll also have the chance to explore other nearby handicraft stores, each offering more treasures to discover.

DAY-02: Thimphu-Punakha Sightseeing

Distance: 71 km, estimated driving time: 2 hours

After breakfast, embark on a scenic journey to Punakha and Wangdue, passing through the stunning Dochula Pass at 3,140 meters.
At Dochula, on a clear spring day, you’ll be treated to breathtaking panoramic views of the majestic Himalayan Mountain ranges. Take the opportunity to capture beautiful photos at the site of the 108 chortens. You'll also visit the enchanting Druk Wangyal Lhakhang, a monastery built by Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck, the Queen Mother of Bhutan.
Enjoy some refreshments—tea, coffee, and snacks—at the Dochula Pass Cafeteria before continuing your journey to Punakha. Along the way, stop for a delicious traditional Bhutanese lunch at a farmhouse in Lobesa village. Afterward, take a peaceful 20-minute walk through lush paddy fields to visit the Devine Madman’s Monastery, Chhimi Lhakhang, renowned as a fertility shrine where you can receive a special fertility blessing.
Next, cross a traditional cantilever bridge to visit the majestic Punakha Dzong, beautifully situated on the confluence of the Pho-Chu (male river) and Mo-Chu (female river).
End your day with a stroll to one of Bhutan’s longest suspension bridges, spanning 350 meters above the swift-flowing Pho-Chu. Draped in colorful prayer flags, this bridge offers stunning views and serves as a convenient pathway for local villagers, connecting them to Punakha Dzong.
In the evening, visit the serene Sangchhen Dorji Lhuendup Lhakhang Nunnery, where you can take in the breathtaking views of the Punakha and Wangdue valleys. This scenic spot offers the perfect opportunity to capture stunning photographs, allowing you to fully appreciate the natural beauty and tranquility of the surroundings.


Day-03: Punakha Short Natural - Cultural Hike | Punakha - Thimphu

Distance: 71 km, estimated driving time: 2 hours

After breakfast, enjoy a peaceful journey through the upper Punakha valley. Take a leisurely walk, crossing a suspension bridge and passing through picturesque paddy fields, leading to the stunning Khamsum Yuelley Namgyal Lhakhang. The walk to the temple, which takes about an hour, offers a perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in the serene surroundings. Once there, explore the temple and take in the breathtaking views from its vantage point.
After lunch, you’ll travel back to Thimphu, once again crossing the scenic Dochula Pass. Upon your arrival in Thimphu, you’ll check into your hotel and then set out to explore the city’s highlights:
National Memorial Chorten
Visit the National Memorial Chorten, a beautiful stupa built in 1974 in memory of the Third King of Bhutan, King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, affectionately known as the father of modern Bhutan. The word ‘chorten’ translates to ‘seat of faith,’ and such monuments are often referred to as the ‘Mind of Buddha’ by Buddhists. As you explore this sacred site, you’ll have the chance to meet the local elderly generation as they perform their peaceful circumambulations, particularly in the serene mornings and evenings. It's a meaningful experience that offers a glimpse into Bhutan's spiritual traditions.
School of Traditional Painting of Arts and Crafts
Visit the School of Traditional Painting of Arts and Crafts, where students dedicate six years to mastering Bhutan’s 13 traditional arts and crafts. Here, you'll witness the preservation of Bhutan's rich artistic heritage as young artists skillfully bring to life intricate designs and timeless crafts, passed down through generations. It's a wonderful opportunity to appreciate the dedication and talent that go into maintaining these beautiful traditions.
National Textile Museum
Visit the National Textile Museum, a wonderful place to witness the art of traditional weaving being preserved and celebrated through fascinating exhibitions. The museum showcases a rich collection of old textiles, vibrant in color and intricate in design, reflecting Bhutan’s cultural heritage. You’ll also have the chance to see skilled weavers at work, creating beautiful patterns with traditional techniques. It’s a perfect spot to immerse yourself in Bhutan’s textile history and artistry.
Takin Preserve
Visit the Takin Preserve, home to Bhutan’s unique national animal, the Takin, an incredibly rare member of the goat family found only in Bhutan. These majestic creatures, which can weigh up to 550 pounds, typically roam in herds at high altitudes above 13,125 feet, thriving on a diet of grass and bamboo. At the preserve, you'll have the opportunity to see these remarkable animals in their natural environment, offering a rare glimpse into Bhutan's fascinating wildlife.
Centenary Farmers' Market
Visit the lively Centenary Farmers’ Market, open from Thursday to Sunday, where the vibrant energy of Thimphu’s residents and nearby valley dwellers comes alive. Located by the Wangchu River, this bustling weekend market offers a delightful array of local food, fresh produce, and Bhutanese arts and crafts. Open from Friday afternoon to Sunday evening, it's the perfect spot to capture great photos and experience the local culture firsthand, while mingling with the friendly people of Bhutan.

Day-04: Thimphu-Paro | Hike to Tiger`s Nest Monastery | Traditional Hotstone Bath | Overnight in Paro

Distance : 54 Km, estimated driving time : 1 hr

After breakfast, set off on an exciting journey to Paro, where you’ll drive for about 20 minutes to reach the base of the breathtaking Taktsang Monastery, also known as `Tiger`s Nest`. The hike to the viewpoint will take approximately 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on your fitness level, and offers a spectacular view of the monastery perched on the cliffside. Be sure to stop at the View Point Cafeteria for refreshments and capture stunning photos with Taktsang as your backdrop.
Continue your trek up to the monastery, which will take another hour. After exploring this sacred site, you’ll walk back downhill, stopping for lunch at the View Point Cafeteria along the way before heading down to the road.
Next, visit the Kichu Temple, one of the 108 temples built in the 7th century by the Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo, a site rich in history and significance.
Then, experience the warmth of Bhutanese culture with a visit to a farmhouse in Paro Valley, where you’ll gain insight into the traditional lifestyle of local farmers.
In the evening, unwind in a traditional Bhutanese hot stone bath at the farmhouse, where river rocks are placed in water to crack and steam, releasing essential minerals and relieving deep-seated aches.
You’ll also have the chance to explore the interior of a traditional Bhutanese house before enjoying a delicious dinner with the family, immersing yourself in the rich flavors and hospitality of Bhutan.

Day-05: Departure

After breakfast drive to Paro International Airport where your guide and driver will bid you farewell and hope you had a pleasant holiday and hope to see you in Bhutan again.
